Rule of Life #26 (pg 118) No bad ideas

Rule of Life #26

“There’s no such thing as a bad idea.  It just takes the willpower and dedication to turn that idea into a reality.  If you believe it will happen, it will.”

How many times in your life have you come up with an idea only to be shot down by mostly everyone you know?  And when that happens, don’t you also start down the path of doubt thinking your idea is a dumb one?  You begin to wonder, “Well, if everyone else thinks it’s a failure, I guess it is.  Might as well put the thought aside and move on.”

You’re definitely not alone.  I’ve experienced this many times.  Our minds are trained to think like everyone else.  We go with what the majority feels, not with what our gut is telling us for fear that we’ll be judged or that it won’t work.  We’re too afraid to face criticism that our idea never makes it off the ground.

Next time you have an idea, go with it.  And word to the wise – do not tell a single soul until you’re comfortable and ready to do so.  And when they still don’t get your big idea, wow them with the outcome.

Rule of Life #3 (page 19) Life’s full of choices…

23 May 2010 Categories: Blog, When the Universe Throws a Curve Ball Book Excerpts

Which road will you travel down?

Rule of Life #3.

“Life’s full of choices to make.  Some big, some small, some good and some, not so much.  Others will always give you their input even when you don’t ask for it, but in the end, it’s entirely up to you to decide.  Once you’ve made your decision, it’s your job to make sure you picked the right one.  My motto?  Live life without any regrets.”

When we’re faced with a tough decision, it’s easy to ask everyone around us what they think and what their opinion is, so we can validate that the decision we made was the right one.   That’s natural.  Instead of teetering back and forth on this choice or that, be firm in what you believe in and go with your heart.  Trust it.  It will guide you to where you need to be.

This book excerpt comes at a time in my life when I bounced back and forth on whether to start my own business or become yet another employee.  So, did I make the right choice?

Rule of Life #5 (page 32) Release any self-doubt…

13 May 2010 Categories: Blog, When the Universe Throws a Curve Ball Book Excerpts

“Release any self-doubt you have lingering in your mind.  Even the tiniest bit can have the strongest hold on you.  Instead of saying, “I don’t deserve this,” say, “I do deserve this.”  Instead of saying, “I can’t do this,” say, “I can do this.”  When you finally change your mindset, you’ll be amazed at the amount of confidence you’ve gained.”

How many of us have felt this exact same way?  I know I have and on plenty of occasions.  More than I care to count.  There’s always that bit of negativity weighing us down telling us we can’t or that we’re not good enough, or that there are better people suited for the job.  Rather than give in to Mr. Negativity, I encourage you to stop, take a deep breath and go with it.  You’ll be so glad you did!  I promise.

This rule of life in my book comes at a time when I doubted my ability to speak in large groups.  It wasn’t so much the speaking, but whether the audience would view me as a credible expert on the subject matter because of my young age.  To find out how I overcame this obstacle, please visit my book’s site at www.tishamariepelletier.com.

A Peek into When the Universe Throws a Curve Ball

My book (my life’s short story so to speak) has been out for about four weeks now.  To date, 115 copies have been sold and are making their way around the U.S. to friends, family, colleagues, clients and complete strangers.  The reviews are just what I had hoped for – for my readers to be able to relate to what I’ve gone through both in business and in life.

Since many of you are interested to find out what the book’s about, I’ve created this blog category especially for you called “Book Excerpts.”  It gives you a glimpse of the rules of life I’ve learned that have, in a way, shaped who I have become.

Hope you enjoy them.  And if you’re interested in reading the entire book, I hope you will.  Visit my site at www.tishamariepelletier.com for details and rave reviews.  The book is also coming soon to Amazon.com!  Keep you posted.
